So i am a 1st year commish of a league on yahoo.com. Today i have a guy asking me why he cant pick up brandon jackson from the waiver wire. I tell him once the game starts the player is locked untill wednesday and the team highest on the waiver # that week has 1st choice of FAs. He tells me he has played in over 25 leagues and none have worked like that. I just left it how yahoo had it setup so i figured it would be standard. He claims every league is 1st come 1st serve.

What is the standard way to do waivers? which way do u guys think is better 1st come 1st serve or waiver #?

I like it the way you have it set up. I set up my league that way too.

ESPN has a waiver # order that changes every week. You have to wait until Thursday to find out what picks you got.

RTFS the waiver wire opens at 7:00 PM on Tuesday night. First come first come first serve.

Either way you have to wait a day or two after the Monday night game before you can pick free agents up.

Myself, I think the waiver # is more fair. The order is determined by the team records.

First come first serve seems to favors whoever has the fastest computer. At 7:00 there's a made scamble to get the players you want.
When I had my old computer I never was able to get the free agents I wanted. Last year I bought a Apple Imac and always got who I wanted.

Good luck!!!

Yahoo leagues can be set up to have a "waiver period" from 2 to 3 days. During that time any players Released go into the waiver wire* and can only be Aquired by owners in reverse order of whoever drafted last/made the last waiver pickup.

*The Waiver rule only applies to Released Players. Once the 2 to 3 day period expires, they join all remaining unsigned players as "Free Agents" and for FAs, it is always First Come, First Serve
